Changing the text size in your web-browser

Instructions for increasing the size of text displayed in your web-browser for all pages you visit.

If you are having difficulty reading the text on this website, follow the simple instructions below and enlarge the text in your browser. These instructions cover Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, Opera and Mozilla Firefox.

1. Microsoft Internet Explorer
Using the View menu, you can quickly change the size of fonts on your screen. When you make these changes in Internet Explorer, they will be reflected on all Microsoft Help pages as well. In this procedure, you can choose from five different font sizes.

Using your mouse
In the menu bar:

  • Click View
  • Click Text Size
In the Text Size list:
  • Click the text size that best meets your needs.
Using your keyboard
In the menu bar:
  • Open the View menu by pressing ALT and V
  • Display the Text Size list by pressing X
In the Text Size list:
  • Select the text that best meets your needs by pressing the appropriate underlined letter (G, L, M, S or A)

2. Netscape Navigator

Using the View menu, you can quickly change the size of fonts on your screen. In this procedure, you can choose from seven different font sizes.

Using your mouse
In the menu bar:
  • Click View
  • Click Text Size (100%)
In the Text Size list:
  • Click the text size that best meets your needs.
Using your keyboard
In the menu bar:
  • Open the View menu by pressing ALT and V
  • Display the Text Size list by pressing Z
In the Text Size list:
  • Select the text that best meets your needs by pressing the appropriate underlined letter (M, L, 5, 7, 9, Z, 1, 0, 2)

3. Opera

Using the View menu, you can quickly change the size of fonts on your screen. In this procedure, you can choose from seven different font sizes

Using your mouse
In the menu bar:
  • Click View
  • Click Zoom
In the Text Size list:
  • Click the text size that best meets your needs.
Using your keyboard
In the menu bar:
  • Open the View menu by pressing ALT and V
  • Display the Text Size list by pressing Z
In the Text Size list:
  • Select the text that best meets your needs by pressing the appropriate underlined letter (5, 8, 9, 1, 2, 0, -, +)

4. Mozilla Firefox
Using the View menu, you can quickly change the size of fonts on your screen. In this procedure, you can choose from seven different font sizes.

Using your mouse
In the menu bar:
  • Click View
  • Click Text Size
In the Text Size list:
  • Select the Increase Ctrl and + option to enlarge the text. Repeat as necessary.
Using your keyboard
With the Keyboard:
  • Press the Ctrl (control) key, and then the + key to enlarge the text
